Yesterday, French electro producer Uppermost dropped ‘One,’ a 12-piece nostalgic album that takes us back to that Ed Banger 07’ feel of gritty funk. In the first couple tracks we’re tossed into a high-energy storm of raw bass as uppermost takes the wheel from Justice and does laps around ‘Cross.’ The très chic flow of metal and disco is something I personally could riot to. Chaos ensues until track 8. ‘Gather’ takes the album in a 180° turn to some very daft punk-esque loungey funk. After that, ‘Dreamworld’ is exactly as it sounds as we float downstream on a cloud of melodic beauty. The LP comes to a smooth conclusion and I for one, am satisfied.

Once in a blue moon, a house track comes by with so much passion, that one cannot control the floodgate of endorphins. In this case, Choobz is our neural catalyst. The simple driving beat of ‘Trumpski,’ combined with the authentic feel of the trumpet brings this track to life in a way that’s rarely accomplished.

Mad Decent’s 3^rd annual Block Party in Los Angeles was a perfect way to cap off the summer. The micro-festival, complete with dodgeball, beer gardens, and a multi-genre lineup, set the stage for utter shenanigans. Throughout the day, the eclectic Mad Decent roster jumped between artists with no real connection or objective other than to have fun.

Snoop has been full of surprises. First, he left for Jamaica a Dogg and returned a Lion after a “religious and artistic awakening”; an interesting career move to say the least. Just when we thought he was done reinventing himself, DJ Snoopadelic crawled through the woodwork. Last week he released ‘Loose Joints,’ an unexpectedly good promo-tape that progresses from quality tech house to minimal electro.

With deep bass, dreamy fills and off-pitched vocals, Bondax has been making sizeable waves in the blogosphere as of late. The duo consists of two 17-year-old producers from Lancaster who describe their sound as, “airy, sunny, romantic vibes.” Much like SBTRKT, TEED, Disclosure and James Blake, Bondax has an ethereal flow that represents overt musicality.
