Chronic Mncher

22 year old Rob Goden has a special gift, somehow he can transform simple gameboy sound effects into filthy heart wrenching dubstep; it’s like Mario on crack. In one of his newest creations, Rob takes on one of my favorite 80’s classics and gives it that dub treatment, Cutting Crew’s ‘Died In Your Arms’. I’m not sure where Rob got his name, Monster! Monster!, but I like it.

Cutting Crew – Died In Your Arms (Monster! Monster! Remix)
Borgore – Money (Monster! Monster! Cashback Remix)

Bonus

Skrillex has been the hottest thing to hit the electronic scene since Darude’s Sandstorm. He got his hands on Benny Benassi’s ‘Cinema’ and flopped it upside down in a batter of filth before sprinkling it with his infamous chest cavity shaking w0mp. Apparently, Skrillex can do no wrong.

Double-decker buses, pubs, roundabouts and now w0mp? Roksonix, a dubstep duo out of London, explores the wobbly sounds of the past present and future. Besides witnessing DJ Saddam drop fat beats, nothing puts a smile on my face faster than Roksonix’s rendition of Sergeant Smash.

I was deeply pondering how I could possible make C+A+D any better, so I realized, post consistency. Therefore, I’ve decided to designate a new weekly holiday, w0mp Wednesdays. Every Wednesday I’ll massage your worthy ears with fresh electro and filthy dub.

Excision & Datsik

Legends of the dubstep scene, Excision and Datsik practically wrote the book on putting the 0 in w0mp. Representing Canada, Excision and Datsik collaborations venture into the dub ultraviolent, A Canuckwork Orange perhaps.

Noisia – Alpha Centauri (Excision & Datsik remix)

Featured in YOLO 27:

Excision & Datsik – Swagga <- I was eating bread … at 1:06 I was eating toast

Digiraatii

Buckle your seat belts; DIGIRAATII will take you on a perilous ride through raunchy dub and grimy electro. I’m sure your ears have been beaten to death by now by A-traks take on Heads Will Roll. However, this trio from Cleveland will have you on your knees, begging for more.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Heads Will Roll (DIGIRAATII Remix v2.0)

Crystal Vision – Mouser (DIGIRAATII Remix)

Flux Pavillion

Representing himself at an international level, Flux Pavillion has been climbing the dubstep ladder ever since dropping his widely celebrated banger ‘Gold Dust’.  To everyone’s surprise however, Flux Pavillion is NOT just a one hit wonder. Flux has been pumping out filthy DNA altering w0mp like Chernobyl on a sunny day… The sheer audacity and production value of FP trumps most dub out there.

Flux Pavillion – Hold Me Close

Flux Pavillion – Night goes on

M.IA. – Internet Connection (Flux Pavillion Remix)

Dirtyloud

Time for my personal fav genre, glitch electro! Brazilian producers Jim & Du form Dirtyloud; a name perfectly suited. It’s hard to formulate a sentence that accurately portrays the sound, maybe I’m crazy but I have a reoccurring image of flying zombies with flamethrowers.

Felguk – Whatever Clever (Dirtyloud Remix)

Aaren San – Apes From Space (Dirtyloud Remix)

Dirtyloud – Dirtymind

Bonus

I’m sure you’re all well aware of Skrillex’s grimy take on ‘Hey Sexy Lady’, Afrojack finally decided to give his 2 cents; better late then never.

iSquare – Hey Sexy Lady (Afrojack Remix)

happy w0mp day!

Despite this recent wave of depressing weather in California, MLK Jr. was feeling extra generous this year and hooked it up with a glorious sunshine filled weekend. Unfortunately, I got into a bit of trouble; the EPA insisted I was releasing unreasonable amounts of w0mp into the atmosphere. These are the culprits:

Hirshee – Big Life (Drivepilot Remix) <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Couldn’t dig up much on Drivepilot (aka Nick Edwards). All I could scoop up is he’s based in Portland, Oregon and he just dropped his EP “Fuck Yeah!” on Traction Records.

Matisse & Sadko – Hi Scandinavia <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Russian duo Matisse & Sadko stepped up to the plate and delivered a beautiful house track, clearly inspired by none other than the Swedish House Mafia.

A.G. Trio – Electro Messiah (RiskoDisko Remix) <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Portugese DJ/Producer RiskoDisko doesn’t have much of a bio, he does however, compare himself to Hollis P Monroe… “low budget, raw and under-produced”.

Woo Boost Like My Daddy (Clubsauce Mashup) <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
A fresh take on an unforgettable classic, Clubsauce chops up some vocals and keeps it inventive. I tried doing some research on these guys; unfortunately, the only statement they’ve made is “so spicy”

Bonus

I was cleaning up some old iTunes playlists and I stumbled upon these forgotten treasures.
Daft Punk – Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer ’08 Runway Mix 256 kbps
Justice – Dior Homme Spring Summer 09 Mix 192 kbps =(

It seems Duck Sauce inspired a disco house revolution. Dutch house duo,‘Mason’, is getting in on this cake; oh what a tasty cake it is. A chopped up disco sample that’s catchier than yawns at a retirement home, Mason seals the deal with 70’s claps and snares.

EDIT: Turns out it’s just another BS Daft Punk rumor. It was fun while it lasted! Full article.

The Coachella lineups is expected to drop within the next couple of weeks or so; frantically, every music loving soul on the western seaboard will be anxiously skimming the poster for those two magical words, Daft Punk. Until recently, The French duo has been completely off the map, but rumors of a Daft Punk side project have been spreading like mono at a middle school rager. It’s under speculation that they decided to go under the alias ‘The Third Twin,’ to put out an album called ‘Homemade’. If you try to look into them, you’ll be left with nothing but a vague possibility. I was however, able to dig up an interesting Q&A.

Well, the big question is obvious, are you Daft Punk?

(TTT): Actually this question is something that disappoints us greatly, since our inception we have escaped the commercialism, the music never must be confused with the image. Comparisons are meaningless for us. And that the real reason for our project, the comparison between twins does not make sense, so the name The Third Twin.

Scope the whole interview available in 4 languages HERE.

Another thing I thought was noteworthy was that, at the peak of TRON soundtrack leaks, someone under the username AlexDaft26 posted 11 songs that said they were off the unreleased soundtrack. The artist names were later changed to The Third Twin after Disney said they had nothing to do with the soundtrack. All of this is very interesting, of course.

They definitely have the aesthetic feel…several familiar samples… The Third Twin could possibly be Daft Punk… or perhaps just some kids manipulating free publicity; either way, the album itself really does a lot of good.

The Third Twin’s Homemade

*Unfortunately, this leak is 128kbps

1. Technolers
2. Evil Minds
3. Chicago Soul
4. Justice
5. Ra Men Kepher
6. Americ Family
7. Empty Fire
8. Worm Earth
9. The Time Is Over
10. Arecibo’s Song
11. This Is Love

It’s 2011, you know what that means, we only have a year until the grand cycle of evolution will culminate winter solstice… humanity will face inevitable demise. Fortunately for you, I’ll be supplying fresh beats all year; when our atoms spontaneously implode on 1/1/12, our feet will be shuffling and our faces smiling.  Here’s to another year of treble, mid-range, and of course, w0mp.

Feed Me (aka Jon Gooch) joined forces with legendary mau5trap recordings back in 2008. Gooch has been periodically releasing remixes, however, his eager fan base was hungry for more. Gooch finally delivered the main course and, what a delicacy it is. Gooch went all out on this one, I’m talking steak, potatoes, french fries, cornbread… the whole nine yards. Interestingly, Feed Me’s EP has so many different influences; Skrillex bbqed the steak, Porter Robinson mashed the potatoes, Busy P battered the fries and Feed Me thew in his flavor with a dash of cornbread. So many shapes would normally feel overwhelming, but Feed Me fuses dub, glitch and house in a barrage of savory beats. My compliments to the chef.

Every Track On Feed Me’s EP ‘Feed Me’s Big Adventure’ receives Chronic Mncher’s stamp of approval.
