With new festival lineups flooding your news feed on what seems like a daily basis, it’s become increasingly difficult to figure out which ones to exclude from your calendar. Lightning in a Bottle is not one of those. For California residents, it should be a staple on your festival circuit alongside Coachella and Outside Lands. Read on for reasons why you should spend your hard earned money on this mind-expanding weekend of appreciating art and love in all of its forms.
On the music side of things, here are a few tracks from some of our favorite artists that’ll be appearing:
CHVRCHES – Leave a Trace (Four Tet Remix)
Lee Burridge – Robot Hearts Burning Man Set 2015
Alina Baraz & Galimatias – Make You Feel
Griz x Big Gigantic – Good Times Roll
The music lineup will keep us groovin’ and jammin’ the whole weekend – sure – but that’s only half of the ‘acts’ that are booked at LIB. The Temple of Consciousness features speakers and workshops all day that are designed to introduce you to new ideas, connect with people on the same wavelength, and expand your understanding of self and the world we live in. It’s an incredible aspect of the festival, and when you spend time at the Temple of Consciousness, you realize the amount of resources and effort LIB has put into making this more than a ‘music festival’ — there’s a real opportunity for growth and discovery here. The internet is a marvelous place for the dissemination of ideas, but it’s not filled with a ton of ancient wisdom from indigenous cultures that have been passed down for generations. LIB gives you this opportunity for discovery.
On top of that, there’s a variety of Yoga classes that will help you both deepen and expand your practice. Think: classes outside of the realm of the most popular versions that may be practiced at your studio. Some of the workshops, talks, and classes that you’ll find us at this year:
– YOGA OF BASS: Ecstatic Bass Session with FreQ Nasty and Claire Thompson
– Indigenous Intelligence and Plant Medicine Panel feat. Zach Leary, John Perkins, Daniel Raphel, Dr. Gerry, and Ariel Mendoza, moderated by Tony Moss.
– DHURVA YOGA: BALANCE, ALIGNMENT, FEEL GOOD & SLOW FLOW
– Plumasana Yoga feat. Live Music – MOVING BEYOND THE CONDITIONING
– REWILDING: A HOW-TO GUIDE FOR URBAN DWELLERS
– PRIMAL VOICE: BALINESE MONKEY CHANT
– EMPOWER YOUR VOICE: TANTRIC LINEAGES OF VOCAL SOUND HEALING
– GETTING REAL IN AN UNREAL WORLD: BUDDHIST WISDOM FOR AUTHENTICITY & NATURALNESS
– BELONG: HOW TO BUILD COMMUNITY IN THE DIGITAL AGE
– HOLISTIC DENTIST. UNDERSTANDING HOW YOUR TEETH AFFECT THE ENERGY BODY
Beyond the activities – simply being in the environment that LIB has created is an experience in and of itself. The people that gather there are more of a group than a ‘crowd.’ Here, you’ll find people open and wanting to connect to others, welcoming you into their late night campsite festivities. You’ll easily maneuver your way through people at stages, greeted by smiling faces and maybe even a water gun spray. You’ll re-center yourself in a sound healing, yoga class, or meditation session, and continue onto a stage with an enhanced presence to enjoy world-class artistry with your friends. You’ll see stimulating paintings being created live at the stages while you’re rocking out to the musical artist. You’ll enjoy stunning sunsets and sunrises over the dry lake bed. You’ll be captivated by the moon at night shining over the same lake bed. You’ll feel like you’re in a different world for 4 days, and come back rejuvenated and energized to progress in whatever you’re working on.
Tickets are now sold out, but there are plenty of people that can no longer make it that are re-selling their tickets on Craigslist and The Facebook Event Page!
