Loving everything about Tommy Trash lately. Dirty synths, huge output of tracks, quality remixes, and a signature sound that’s all his own. This Londoner has been getting some epic love lately in the dj community, and he’s got a slew of new originals on the way this month. Grab the tracks below, head to his soundcloud, and crank your speakers.
Tommy Trash – Future Folk
Bass Kleph & Chris Arnott – We Feel Love (Tommy Trash Remix)
Moby – After (Tommy Trash Remix)

Love me some Haezer, and this album is insane, one of the best to come out lately, check the album here.
You Killing Me – Can’t Stop (Haezer Remix)

Rad mashup (yes there’s such a thing) of a killer track off of Crookers’ new c.d., and a lesser known but equally as bassy track called Na Ciphra from Italy’s Lazy Ants. The Crookers album is still blowin’ my mind after 20 or so full length listens, and this mash KILLS it.
Bust ‘Em Up vs. Na Ciphra (Fatboy Slim Mashup).mp3

Saw this get dropped live a few weeks back, the Sex Cult family is definitely making some moves as of late. Black Matter is stepping up his production for new, long-awaited originals, but these guys are the true gems of the label.
Your Dirty Habit – How Hard

Have a spooktacular night >:)

Groovy new tune from the man himself, he’s been on a tear lately with new stuff, so I can see why he’d opt for a mellow, 90’s style tune. Great little vibe, cool percs and a little unease/darkness mixed in, and I know one of those claps I used like 8 years ago in fl studio. I can dig it.
Boys Noize – Adonis

I just love zombie nation.
Zombie Nation – Day of Many

I’ve been slowing this one down on my moombah nights, if you have any sort of dj software(or just pirate a copy of virtual dj) slow it down for a new flavor on this lil guy. The production is so well put together, I’d be down to see more remixes between these guys.
Zombie Nation – Seas of Grease (Harvard Bass remix)

Modek!! This is a great ep, check out the rest of the remixes and the original here. This one’s my fav. jam of the record.
VNNR – What (Modek Remix)

Wear good headphones, and buy the music!

If anyone’s had the pleasure of listening to any progressive dance/rock in the past ten years, I’m happy to introduce you to the next step in the music world. I had the pleasure of seeing these guy perform four of five times in San Diego, and it never got old. True live artists moved electronic, here’s Clark Baechle, Todd Fink, and Jacob Thiele, Three fifth’s of the legendary group, The Faint, and their venture into bringing their experience and expertise into dance music. Soundcloud here, and you can get the albums here for killer remixes and orginals.

CSS – Hits Me Like A Rock (Depressed Buttons Remix)
Depressed Buttons – Shinichi Osawa Feat. Tommie Sunshine – Love Will Guide You
Boys Noize – Kontact Me (Depressed Buttons Remix)

R3hab’s been on fire lately. Afrojack’s protege has taken danceable anthems to the next level, incorporating huge builds into popular clubs across the world, with energy unlike anyone I’ve seen. His somehwat lack of original material is interesting though, curious to see if he’ll keep doing remixes that are completely different than the original tracks, or if he can start putting together more original tracks or an ep soon. These are some insanely fun songs to play at clubs.

Swanky Tunes ft. Max C – Sending My Love (Original Mix) – Download removed due to artist request
Gloria Estefan – Wepa (R3hab Remix)

New Deadmau5 track, I feel like it could go somewhere and it doesn’t, kinda like everything he’s put out in the past 2 years.

Deadmau5 – Where My Keys (Original Mix)

Below is treasure, I’ve don ethe diggin’ for ya!

Style of Eye – We Are Boys
Duck Sauce – Radio (Bastille Edit)
Le Castle Vania – Awake
Stafford Brothers ft. Seany B – Speaker Freakers (LA Riots Remix)

A big thanks over to www.dscotech.com for the tracks, a great blog with tons of music.

When listening to tUnE-yArDs it’s not necessarily the boom-snare drums and loop pedals that stand out and make it so experimental and edgy and inexplicably awesome. Merrill Garbus’s voice is androgynous to say the least and to be honest, I couldn’t figure out if the brainchild was he or a she (she’s a she). She has such incredible vocal range that makes the music not only really fun to listen to but powerful. She’s got some serious pipes so it doesn’t come as a huge shock that she taught voice lessons in Kenya for some time. Her second album was released this year and really explores the bounds of music in the way that many experimental indie bands attempt to (but often fail). She creates this alternate reality out of cardboard and confetti that could make you forget just where you are in time and space. It’s not nearly as pretentious as I’ve made it sound, though. She’s managed to forge her own kind of cool, which is what experimental music is all about, right? Keep a look out for her live shows, they’re supposed to be amazing.

I’m always stoked to see djs take their talents to new places within their production, not to mention within a set itself. It’s no secret that Pendulum is one of the biggest groups in EDM today, with a live show that has no comparison. I honestly am not the biggest fan of their type of Drum n Bass/Anthemic Rock, but I intensely respect the fact that they’ve created their own signature sound in a sea of conformation. That being said, I give you Rob Swire (frontman) and Gareth McGrillen (bassist/DJ) of Pendulum’s new side project: Knife Party.

Awesome mix of Electro dropped into Moombahcore (didja hear that Skrillex/KP moombah track?!?! hit the soundcloud page for tracklisting) then into smashing dubstep. They had their first show at Ibiza a few days ago, and expect big releases soon from these guys. No announcements yet, so stay up on their twitter for more info.

This Swedish House Mafia remix is just nuts, totally saved the song for me. Grab it and rage.
Save The World – Swedish House Mafia (Knife Party Remix)

As always, wear good headphones, and buy the music!

One-man show Absofacto, a favorite of mine, recently bestowed upon us two new singles and a remastering of eight of his older songs. I’ve yet to hear an Absofacto song I didn’t like and these are solid gold. Check ’em out. He offers free downloads on his website, but please, pay for the music.

Austin natives Okkervil River is possibly one of the most underrated bands in the indie scene. They are the rare kind of band that can take a detour well into their career and succeed resoundingly. Known for a violently passionate take on indie rock, they introduced their brilliance with a carefully constructed debut in 2002; they introduced a zeal that was not easily mistaken. Nine years down the road, where many (and most) bands easily would find themselves in a developmental rut, quickly change directions and fail, Okkervil River has taken a well-loved sound and concept and revamped it. Their most recent release, I Am Very Far, is conceptually different but arguably more powerful than their first two releases. They still have a lot to offer and they aren’t holding anything back. As steadfast as the entire album is, I’m surprised it hasn’t gained much more hype over the past few months. It’s sturdy to say the very least–a canon ball record both lyrically and instrumentally. It’s audacious, daring and experimental in all the right ways. Honestly it almost feels pointless to be writing about it…stop wasting your time reading this and purchase the album.
