Reinventing the entire genre, 24-year-old Burns is pushing the envelope of funk and house. After completing a US tour with Deadmau5 and a UK tour with Calvin Harris, Burns put the final touches on his EP, ‘Turbo/Heartbeat’. He’s remixed the likes of The Black Eyed Peas, Wolfmother, Ladyhawke, and Frankmusik with no signs of slowing down. Burns’ music has a very special attribute; you can practically feel the Daft Punk influence coursing through the funk; he’s keeping it disco, disco. Give me that funk, that sweet, that nasty, that gushi stuff!
When it comes to disco grooves, funky breakdowns and ungodly builds, nobody tops the legendary duo that is Duck Sauce; that is, until I discovered Burns. Fellow CAD writer Skinny Genes was blessed enough to witness Burns open an astounding set for Treasure Fingers last Friday at the Avalon. Thanks to finals, I was left at the library with nothing but my books, a pen, and a jealous grin. Nonetheless I give you, Burns.
