Rock was one of our first loves. RADKEY is a sibling trio that has recharged our emotions. Their driving basslines, ripping guitar solos, and thrash drumming have all the makings of a wonderfully riotous set. The baritone voice of eldest brother Dee adds Midwest flavour that only improves upon their tried and true rock’n’roll style.

They play Saturday. Expect to hear tracks from their forthcoming album. Come mosh.

Radkey – Romance Dawn

Radkey – Start Freaking Out

Radkey – Cat & Mouse

Leave it to Mount Elsewhere to rise to the challenge of effectively encompassing all things indie rock. At once sounding Americana and folk-funky and the next experimental bluesy, they’ve developed a musical style that blends acoustic tradition with modern electronic experimentation. Throw in the vocals and it becomes weighty travelling music for sure.

This trio comes to us from Michigan and it definitely shows: maudlin lyricism on top of all-out jamming is their specialty. Get their debut album Heart and Soul.

Mount Elsewhere – Deceiver

Mount Elsewhere – kswdt

Mount Elsewhere – Heart and Soul

Mount Elsewhere – And Gold

The illustrious psychedelic rock group FINALLY show signs of life with their new synth heavy single “Let It Happen.” A few months ago Kevin Parker said that they would be leaning more on the electronic/synthy side with upcoming releases. I’m sure some people will find a reason to be upset about that, but I was seeing them moving toward a more Jagwar Ma sound while still staying true to their style.

This extended track starts off smooth as butter; everything we love about the group. Around 5:30 they make use of the vocoder and it’s somewhat reminiscent of Midnight Juggernauts. I included a Midnight Juggies song below, because if you’re not familiar, you should be! Enjoy.

The Ghost of a Sabertooth Tiger, or The GOASTT, is a psych-rock project formed by Sean Ono Lennon (yes, that is exactly what you think it means) and Charlotte Kemp Muhl. While our elders had The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix, we have The GOASTT. A quintet on stage, they create a musical landscape that brings to mind the legends of old. Ripping guitar solos, intellectual lyricism, and mesmerizing psychedelic melodies are their mode of play.

Sean and Charlotte met upon the fields of Coachella in 2004, so expect this set to be special for all involved. Catch the magic with us Friday.

The GOASTT – Moth to a Flame

The GOASTT – Animals

The GOASTT – Long Gone

It’s a wonder to us how long it took for Germany’s Milky Chance to get picked up by US radio. Honestly though, we’re just glad they are finally getting the recognition. With a 2013 debut that hinted at a blend between The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, and The Shins, this duo has been repping all the things we love about indie-rock in stride. Their single ‘Stolen Dance’ was and continues to be remixed by pretty much every producer going the ‘chill’ route. We can’t argue with that since the original was a summer hit in its own right.

We’re thinking a Saturday Sunset Session at Outdoor Stage is definite. House right, look for the frisbee.

Milky Chance – Flashed Junk Mind

Milky Chance – Stolen Dance

London’s Ed Cares, better known as ‘CHILDCARE’, has a Free EP out. It is 4 tracks of high-energy pop-punk that’s got us remembering why we love live instruments and rock so much. We need to see a live show (for some bruises).

CHILDCARE – FLUSH EP

SPOON

After SPOON went to their Facebook to post a cover photo with the words ‘R.I.P.’, I wasn’t sure how to interpret it. I refused to believe that they were breaking up. One of Americas finest rock bands calling it quits? No way. After impatiently waiting, we were pleased to find out their upcoming album They Want My Soul would see its release date on August 5th. And the single will be aptly named Rent I Pay…alright. Thanks Yoda. I mean, I’ll take it. The song has just the raw and grit they’ve always been keen to deliver. Simple. Effective. Spoon. Listen below.
